On this episode of 1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps Jodie transform her underwhelming bedroom into a peaceful and comforting space. The mom-of-two in Manhattan wants her spacious room to feel more cohesive and sophisticated, and Will wants Jodie’s room to feel like the “sanctuary” that all busy parents deserve! With just one day and $1,000 dollars to spend, can Will get the job done and achieve Jodie’s vision? Time to find out!
Will kicks things off by painting a layer of calming blue over the white wall behind the bed, which he pairs neutral colors throughout the space, creating a calm and warm baseline for the room’s design. To help accentuate the look, Will places a neutral-colored striped area rug over the floor.
Wooden nightstands offer a rustic aesthetic combined with plenty of practicality, and they match flawlessly with the new beige queen bed. Will then hangs striped curtains over the windows to match the striped rug, before placing a perfectly on-theme striped table lamp atop each nightstand.
Will is going for a “luxury boutique hotel vibe,” so he adds some sophisticated flair with a wooden shelf and storage bench, which is a perfect piece for storing books and showing off decorative ceramics. Plants and nature-themed wall art give the space an earthy and clean feel, while candles help set a serene tone.
With the transformation complete, Jodie enters her new room and is immediately blown away! “What a day you had here!” says Jodie, taking it all in. Jodie particularly loves the textures of the room, as well as the bedside tables. “I’m speechless. It looks phenomenal,” says Jodie. “I couldn’t have asked for more.”
