Mother’s Day Brunch Spots: Seattle-Area Eateries Among America’s Best

SEATTLE — Two Puget Sound restaurants landed coveted spots on a recent list of the best brunch spots in America, just as Western Washington families firm up their plans for Mother's Day.

After Mom had to take a back seat to the COVID-19 pandemic for two years in a row, don’t leave her behind this year because you failed to make a reservation for some the most-sought-after tables in Western Washington, including the pair of restaurants named to OpenTable’s list of the 100 Best Brunch Spots in America.

Representing Seattle on the annual list is Sawyer, described as a "casual but chic" restaurant in the heart of Ballard, with a menu tailored for family-style sharing. Their most popular dishes include pork belly steam buns and wood-grilled artichokes, and their brunch specialties feature breakfast nachos and even a "brunchwrap."

On the Eastside, Issaquah's JaK's Grill made the top 100, boasting a large brunch menu packed with favorites, including five varieties of eggs benedict, a host of scrambles, Belgian waffles and more.

OpenTable said an analysis of its data shows Mother’s Day reservations to its clients are up 39 percent compared with pre–pandemic 2019, and up 13 percent compared with 2021.

And in a survey of 1,255 adults, 45 percent said they plan to make up for time lost with their mothers and mother figures during the pandemic by “going big” this year. And 48 percent of moms surveyed said their ideal Mother’s Day involves going out to brunch or dinner.

Among those, nearly half (47 percent) are opting for brunch. The most popular cuisines represented on the list are American (30 percent), French (19 percent), contemporary American (11 percent) and seafood (10 percent).
