Mother of 4 Killed in a Shooting at an Atlanta McDonalds Identified: Suspect Charged to Appear in Court

Police have identified Tamanika Woods as the woman shot to death near a McDonalds in southwest Atlanta on Wednesday.

Law enforcement told Fox 5 Atlanta that the altercation occurred around 3 p.m. at 1166 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old T'Niya Evans on Thursday, and Woods, 30, were involved in an argument that ended with gunfire.

Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove confirmed to the outlet, "The motive appears to be an escalating dispute between customers."

Though investigators did not reveal whether the shooting happened inside or outside the fast food establishment, they added that the suspect was apprehended by bystanders until officers arrived on the scene.

Woods was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition where she died.

As for Evans, she has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and theft by receiving stolen property. Fox 5 Atlanta reported that she was booked into Fulton County Jail and is slated to make her first court appearance on Friday.

A female friend close to Woods told the outlet her "heart was definitely broken" and "so saddened" by the news of her death. She added that she was struggling to understand the motive behind Woods' fatal shooting.

"I never would’ve seen this happening," she said, sharing how she'll remember her friend as a "loving family-oriented woman."

"She’s a very humble, sweet-spirited young lady," she continued. "Every time I saw her, it was nothing but good times and good memories. She’s loved by a lot of people and I hate this situation happened to her."

"She will truly be missed," she said.
