These Deaths In "All Of Us Are Dead" Literally Had Me In Tears

All of Us Are Dead continues to reign unchallenged at the top of Netflix's charts. The South Korean zombie horror series has glued viewers to their screens with its story, electric cast, high-school drama, and thrilling engagements with zombies.
All of Us Are Dead also serves as a coming-of-age story and is full of instances of difficult decisions and loss of innocence. Here I have compiled a list of characters whose deaths I felt were quite shocking or tragic. The following is simply a list and not a ranking. 🚨SPOILERS AHEAD🚨
1.Yoon I-sak
Yoon I-sak was a chirpy, witty, and dependable girl who was Nam On-jo's best friend. Unfortunately, she was the first person among the people closely related to the protagonists, who transformed into a zombie. What made her demise shocking was how early it came in the series, after she had been established as a sprightful and significant character in the first episode. You don't expect such characters to just fall victim to a random nonchalant bite from zombies.
2.Lee Cheong-san's mother
Lee Cheong-san meant everything to his mother. She was so proud of him that she had named her fried chicken shop after her son despite his constant protests. It was her love that made her abandon her shop, her scooter, and good sense, and sent her on a dangerous path to her son's school.
In a tragic turn of affairs, she was bit by the zombie of her son's best friend (Han Gyeong-su) when she approached him to ask about her son's whereabouts. The real tragedy of her death hits hard in the last few episodes of the series where her zombie form is bludgeoned by the students in front of her horror-struck and helpless son.
3.Min Eun-ji
Min Eun-ji was the most tragic character of the series. She was bullied and humiliated while she was a normal human and then she fell victim to the zombies. (Un)fortunately she didn't transform into the feral senseless zombies like the ones who bit her but became a sentient and empowered zombie who was full of self-confidence and a strong desire to live. I had thought that she would probably be safely evacuated to the quarantine camp but to my shock, she became a victim one last time when the zombies overpowered her and infected her.
4.Jang Woo-jin
After safely navigating the perilous journey from the classroom, to the basketball court, to the under-construction building, to the abandoned town of Yangdon, Jang Woo-jin met a shocking end. He decided to make the ultimate sacrifice when a zombie got the better of his sister and was about to bite her. Even in his last moments he was concerned about his sister's career in archery and revealed that he knew that she had not made it to the nationals and was lying the whole time.
5.Oh Joon-young
Oh Joon-young's death was quite shocking as it happened after they had escaped the classrooms, and when things had relatively simmered down. The brains of the group met his death while executing his own plan. He had underestimated the heights at which zombies can easily scale and after getting bit, dejectedly but readily made peace with his grim fate. He quickly went over to the other side and distracted the zombies while also helping his friends push the cart barricade. His death was made more emotional by his last words where he exhorted his friends to go home.
6.Lee Byeong-chan
I was really shocked when Lee Byeong-chan fell victim to the zombies. Although it made for good poetic justice (fire consuming the man who started it), I was hoping that Lee Byeong-chan would survive because of his scientific knowledge, or due to police protection, and would then try to redeem himself by devising a cure for the pestilence he had spawned. But none of this happened and Lee Byeong-chan died guilt-ridden and hopeless.
7.Kim Ji-min
What was more shocking than Kim Ji-min's death was what happened in few minutes before her death. When the students were making their way to the basketball court in the rain, Kim decided to abandon Seo Hyo-Ryung when the latter slipped and fell, and thus got separated from the group. She was chased by the zombies for a while and then, after losing all hope, gave up and was promptly nibbled by the zombies in the playground. Was it a punishment for betraying her friend?
8.Nam On-jo's dad
Nam On-jo's father didn't want stellar academic, extracurricular achievements, or a prolific career from his daughter. He just wanted one thing from her: to have a long and healthy life, and it is towards this end he kept working until his very last moment. After completing his professional duty, he set out alone to fulfill his personal duty and battled the South Korean military, desperate survivors, and ravenous zombies to reach his daughter's school. He arrived just in time to save his daughter but that union was short-lived as he sacrificed himself to buy some time for her and her friends.
9.Lee Cheong-san
Lee Cheong-san's death was totally shocking and I never saw it coming. Cheong-san had many close saves throughout the series and managed to keep himself unblemished despite being in quite dire situations sometimes. But he met his end when he was perched safely on a high platform; There were no mindless zombies around and it was least expected. It took a special kind of zombie to finish him off and even in his dying moments, he made himself count.
10.Han Gyeong-su
What Yoon I-sak was to Nam on-jo, Han Gyeong-su was to Lee Cheong-san. He even wanted to date Yoon I-sak and support his family by making deliveries for Cheong-san's chicken shop.
All of his dreams came to naught, despite having never been gnawed by the zombies. His disadvantaged background, relentless ridicule heaped upon him, honesty, and protestations in his last moments transmuted his tepid death into a tragic one. His death was probably the biggest comment from the show about how the plebs don't make it to the finish line despite playing by the rules and being on equal footing with the affluent.
