(STACKER) – A slew of newcomers are dominating the latest Netflix movie chart: 7 out of 10 films, ranging from an epic display of driving to a nail-biting thriller, plus a nostalgic basketball sequel, are logging their debuts on the list this week. Perhaps the changing seasons are leaving viewers with a taste for something new on Netflix as well.

First up is “Baby Driver,” the 2017 high-octane action film directed by Edgar Wright that joined Netflix on April 1. The story follows Baby (played by Ansel Elgort), a talented getaway driver with a penchant for music, who gets caught up in a world of crime orchestrated by a ruthless boss named Doc (Kevin Spacey). Baby suffers from tinnitus and uses music to drown out the constant ringing in his ears, which also serves as the soundtrack to his life and driving skills. As he tries to break free from his criminal life and pursue a relationship with a waitress named Debora (Lily James), Baby finds himself pulled back into one last heist that puts everyone he cares about in danger. The cast also includes Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, and Jon Bernthal.

Another newcomer to the top 10 that’s riveting subscribers is “Split,” a 2016 M. Night Shyamalan psychological thriller that also joined Netflix on April 1. James McAvoy stars as Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man with dissociative identity disorder who has 23 distinct personalities. He kidnaps three teenage girls and holds them captive in a secluded underground facility. As the girls attempt to escape, they encounter various facets of Kevin’s fractured psyche, with each personality presenting challenges and dangers—building up to the emergence of a terrifying 24th personality known as “The Beast.”

Meanwhile, a lighter title making the rounds and stoking 1990s nostalgia is “Space Jam: A New Legacy” starring NBA superstar LeBron James. In this new installment—which joined Netflix on April 2—LeBron teams up with the Looney Tunes squad (complete with Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester, Granny, Road Runner, and Wile E. Coyote) to save his son Dom (Cedric Joe) by competing in a high-stakes basketball game against an AI-powered team known as the “Goon Squad.” Like the 1996 film, the 2021 movie combines live-action with animation alongside some impressive slam dunks. Now, that’s entertaining for viewers of all ages.
