'The most incredible views.' Chatham Bars Inn named most romantic hotel in Massachusetts

It's cause for celebration over at Chatham Bars Inn as the resort is named the most romantic in Massachusetts by a Taste of Massachusetts People's Choice poll and awarded five stars in Forbes Travel Guide's 2024 Star Awards, the second year the resort has received this accolade.

“It's amazing," said Courtney Lowe, vice president of marketing and business for Chatham Bars Inn. "It's just well-deserved by everybody who puts on such a great experience for our guests, and we're delighted to be honored again and we hope to continue on."

The hotel, which first won the coveted stars in 2023, was selected by anonymous inspectors based on its "luxury accommodations, gracious service, thoughtful amenities, personalized experiences and attentive guest engagement," according to a press release announcing the award.

"A lot of it's our uniqueness," Lowe said. "People come here and I think they see the value, how they're taken care of (and) one of the most incredible views on the entire eastern seaboard is right out our front door. So that piece is something that's invaluable."

Outside of being a Forbes five-star, Chatham Bars Inn was honored for its romantic atmosphere and selected by Taste of Massachusetts pollsters as the most romantic hotel/resort in the state. For Lowe, the resort's romanticism stems from its location and the experiences offered to guests.

"We have so many suites and guest rooms that face the ocean that can have beautiful gardens around it," he said. "We have a culinary experience that can be very romantic in our Stars dining room where you're looking out at the ocean ... There's just so much for couples to do to, enjoy and create memories together with."

Ocean House in Dennisport also received an accolade in the Taste of Massachusetts poll, being named the second most romantic restaurant in the state by voters.

The poll surveyed "a little over" 4,000 people using a formsite webpage, according to Vincent Errichetti, founder of Taste of Massachusetts.

"(I) generally do two to three people's choice polls a year and wanted to do one for Valentine's Day because places needed more attention," Errichetti said.

Voting took place in three rounds: open nomination, a top ten vote and a top three vote, and three winners were selected in each category. Outside of Chatham Bars Inn, The Public House in Sturbridge was named the second most romantic hotel/resort followed by the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge.

The Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield was named the most romantic restaurant, followed by Ocean House and Tresca in Boston.
