In 1966, the multi-hyphenate talent nabbed her greatest role yet: mom. Streisand and Elliott Gould welcomed their only son, Jason. During his younger years, he appeared alongside his mother in a few of her projects, including Up the Sandbox and The Prince of Tides.

As an adult, Jason has pursued a music career of his own and even joined Streisand on tour in 2012 to perform a duet of "How Deep is the Ocean."

In her career-spanning memoir, My Name Is Barbra, which hit shelves in 2023, Streisand discussed the widespread judgement she endured over her physical appearance. People repeatedly told her that she'd find more success in the spotlight if she got a nose job and capped her teeth.

“I thought, Isn’t my talent enough? A nose job would hurt and be expensive,” the performer wrote in her book. “Besides, how could I trust anyone to do exactly what I wanted and no more?”

In her memoir, she shared that she's always appreciated her "long" nose and feared any surgery could affect her vocal talent. Ultimately, Streisand shook off her critics and made confident strides in showbiz without altering her facial features.

“It was too much of a risk," she reflects in her book. "And who knew what it might do to my voice? Once a doctor told me I had a deviated septum…maybe that’s why I sound the way I do."

Streisand last starred in the 2012 comedy The Guilt Trip, and she told PEOPLE there's no rush to get back on any set. In fact, the 10-time Grammy winner doesn't know if she has the energy to make another movie at all.

"It gets exhausting, trying to come up with the structure of the movie and then have it not happen," she said in December 2023.
