Morrissey Loses Voice, Walks Off Mid-Concert

After an abrupt exit, his bandmate tells the crowd, “His voice is shot”

By Evan Minsker and Jazz Monroe.

On Monday night, Morrissey was about six songs into a show in Tucson, Arizona, when he walked off the stage during “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” the Arizona Daily Star reports. A member of his band came out to address the audience: “His voice is shot,” he explained. “You heard it, you heard it. He’s been trying, trying really hard. He came out, he tried. His voice is really shot. We’re sorry. He’s sorry. You know he tried.” A video published by Madchester appears to show Morrissey, earlier in the night, acknowledging his voice issues. “I left part of my mouth in Guadalajara,” he says in the video. “But I will stand here, I will sing, and, if necessary, I will drop dead.” A spokesperson for the Tobin Center in San Antonio, Texas, told the Arizona Daily Star that Morrissey’s show there tonight is set to go ahead.
