‘The Morning Show’ Leads 2024 Critics Choice TV Nominations

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) rolled out the first wave of nominations for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards, focusing on the TV categories. The winners will be revealed at the Critics Choice Awards gala hosted by Chelsea Handler, which airs live on The CW at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

While many returning shows fared well, it was “The Morning Show” that led with six nominations. Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series contender Billy Crudup, the only representative of the show to have both been nominated and won a Critics Choice Award, is now joined by co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Beharie, and Karen Pittman in being recognized for their work on Season 3 of the Apple TV+ series.

“Succession” followed, with five nominations for its final season, including recognition for Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, and Sarah Snook—three out of four of the actors who play the Roy children at the center of the HBO drama—plus supporting actor Matthew MacFadyen.

Finally, limited series “A Small Light” (National Geographic), “Beef” (Netflix), and “Lessons In Chemistry” (Apple TV+), joined previous CCA favorites like “Abbott Elementary” (ABC), “Reservation Dogs” (FX), and “The Bear” (FX) in receiving four nominations each. As did Disney+ series “Loki,” having a stronger showing for its recently concluded second season.
