'The Morning Show' cast on the cultural conversation of #MeToo

The Apple TV+ series, "The Morning Show," is nearly ripped from the headlines as it reveals the aftermath of a sexual misconduct scandal at a popular news station. The show's stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston told Yahoo Entertainment they needed to redevelop the series following the aftermath of the #MeToo Movement. "To not deal with it would have been careless and irresponsible," Witherspoon said. Aniston added: "It just unlocked a whole other door ... that just added to the complexity of the show that we were already going to be doing." "The Morning Show" had been in the works before the October 2017 birth of the #MeToo Movement. It began with the sexual abuse allegations brought against Harvey Weinstein. The aftermath resulted in many women sharing their stories, and many high-profile men in Hollywood, including Les Moonves and Matt Lauer, being accused and subsequently fired from their jobs.
