‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Awkwardly Squirm as Guests Hint at Their Engagement

After years of rumors about their relationship being more than just professional, Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are engaged. However, while the couple confirmed it in an interview with Vanity Fair, they were super reluctant to discuss it on their show Thursday morning. Instead, their colleagues Willie Geist, Harold Ford Jr., Steve Rattner and others congratulated them about their “ratings.”

“First of all, can I say something?” asked Ford Jr. “Congratulations. Congratulations.” “The numbers have been up, lately,” Geist added, leading way to the show’s many jokes. “Show’s going well.”

“More people have watched the last two months than ever before,” said Scarborough with a smile. “So thank you.”

“It’s like we’re family,” said Geist.

“We can almost drop the ‘like,’ Ford Jr. joked.

“But I’m reading over here there’s other things to say congratulations about,” hinted Rattner.

So all of the congratulations were in the guise of ratings. Things then got weird, because while they were on the air, having this “wink wink” conversation about ratings, President Trump got on Twitter to congratulate … Fox and Friends on its ratings.

Scarborough acknowledged this possible slight. “It’s so funny — you know, there’s a mind-meld there, because he doesn’t watch this show,” he said about Trump’s testy relationship with the MSNBC show. “He’s never watched this show. He doesn’t watch it anymore.”

Toward the end of the show, Scarborough was noticeably blushing as he got congrats from Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, but he still didn’t acknowledge the engagement. “Congratulations, by the way,” Corker said. “Congratulations on all the news that are coming out.”

“He knows I’m a big Prince Phillip fan, and it’s good that after all these years of working he can relax,” Scarborough said.
