‘Morning Joe’ Floats Jeanine Pirro for Attorney General: ‘I Don’t Rule Anything Out’ (Video)

The set of “Morning Joe” offered a bit of cabinet speculation Tuesday, floating Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro as a possible candidate for attorney general if President Trump fires Jeff Sessions.

“Jeanine Pirro, attorney general. You never know. I don’t rule anything out,” declared Mika Brzezinski on set. “She would not recuse herself at all, but in all seriousness, although that is a serious possibility in this world we live in today.”

The half-joke from Brzezinski came amid renewed speculation on set by Washington Post correspondent Robert Costa that Trump may move to oust Sessions over his recusal in the Russia investigation, which has left Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in charge — someone who Trump does not trust.

“He continues to go back to that recusal by Attorney General Jeff Sessions last year,” said Costa. “There’s always this vulnerability that the president could try to act in the coming weeks on the attorney general because he keeps talking about Rosenstein.”

Costa also offered a tacit “I don’t rule anything out” agreement with Brzezinski on the idea of Attorney General Pirro.

If Sessions does get fired, he would join Rex Tillerson, Gary Cohn and Hope Hicks who have all departed the White House in recent days.

Judge Pirro did not immediately respond to a request for comment about what she thought of the idea.

Trump and Pirro have been close for decades, and he is known to regularly watch her Saturday evening program on Fox News. While her profile has risen considerably in recent months, critics have often lampooned Pirro’s program as silly — like the time when she interviewed a bunny rabbit. Her opening rants have also delivered regular fire and fury into White House television sets. In the past, Pirro has suggested Robert Mueller should be investigated and that Trump boogeymen at the FBI should be arrested.
