My Morning Jacket, four other bands added to Capitol Groove outdoor music festival

My Morning Jacket, Ozomatli, Celisse, The Suffers and Vincent Lima have been added to the inaugural Capitol Groove outdoor music festival in Bushnell Park on June 29 and 30.

My Morning Jacket and Ozomatli have been added to the Saturday lineup, and the Suffers and Vincent Lima will play on Sunday.

Three of the five newly added bands hail from the West Coast. The eclectic Los Angeles rock/dance/funk/hip hop act Ozomatli has played in a variety of venues around the state, from Ridgefield Playhouse to the Oakdale Theatre. Celisse is a California-rooted singer/songwriter/guitarist who has also appeared in Broadway musicals. Vincent Lima is also a singer/songwriter from the L.A. scene.

My Morning Jacket, the modern rock band from Kentucky whose hits include “Holdin’ on to Black Metal,” “Friends Again” and “It Makes No Difference,” has played the outdoor Westville Music Bowl in New Haven twice, in September 2022 and June 2023. The Suffers, an R&B/Soul group from Texas, played outdoors in Westport this past summer.

New Capitol Groove outdoor music festival will bring bands and craft beverages to Bushnell Park in June

When the new Capitol Groove music festival was announced last month, it was made clear that the event would consist of 14 bands over two days. Only nine of those bands were announced at the time, including Louisiana rockers The Revivalists, Americana act Shakey Graves, soul trio Say She She and the Cap Groove All-Stars performing on Saturday and the Boston-based roots rockers Dispatch, Washington State alt-folk band The Head and the Heart, indie pop band Guster and reggae-tinged Greenwich-born singer/songwriter Trevor Hall playing on Sunday.

Tickets are already on sale for the festival, with a two-day pass priced at $189 and a one-day pass at $99 (with costs set to rise to $119 for one day and $219 for both days closer to the concert dates.) VIP passes, which include premium seats and access to a VIP lounge and a separate entrance, are $435 for two days and $250 for one day.

Besides the bands, there will be food trucks, vendors and multiple bars. More information is at thecapitolgroove.com.
