Nominees have been announced for Sept. 28, 2023's inaugural, fan-voted People's Choice Country Music Awards.

The event, part of a larger, burgeoning partnership between independent strategic investment company Atairos, NBCUniversal and Opry Entertainment Group will air via NBC and Peacock and emanate from the Grand Ole Opry on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Top nominees in 12 categories include the Big Loud-signed pair of Morgan Wallen and HARDY, plus Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, and Lainey Wilson.

The two-hour telecast will honor fan-chosen recipients in various categories plus feature the presentation of several honorary awards. A press release also highlights that the event will "lean into the rich connection between country music and the Opry through chart-topping musical performances, genre-bending collaborations, legendary tributes and surprise moments."

A press release notes that the show's “Backstage Live: People’s Choice Country Awards" livestream of red carpet arrivals, backstage chats and behind-the-scenes moments will air on the show will actually be live-streamed on Circle’s Facebook and YouTube, CircleAllAccess.com and the Circle Now app.

The event will feature the quartet Little Big Town as hosts, plus Toby Keith receiving the Country Icon Award at the event. The "Red Solo Cup" vocalist will be presented the honor by fellow Oklahoma native Blake Shelton.

Regarding the event, Mark Fioravanti, President & CEO of Ryman Hospitality Properties, had stated, "This type of collaboration is what we envisioned when we selected Atairos and NBCUniversal as our strategic partner for Opry Entertainment," referring to NBCUniversal's April 2022 equity investment in Opry Entertainment Group alongside independent strategic investment company Atairos.

The program will extend the 48-year-old People's Choice Awards brand into the country realm after 2022's "People's Choice Awards" were aired on NBC and E! (after being acquired by E! in 2017, with its first telecast airing on the network in 2018) and delivered 173 million total engagements across linear, digital and social platforms.

Voting for the 2023 “People’s Choice Country Awards” is from Aug. 16-25, 2023.

Votes cast on Turbo Tuesday, Aug. 22 (12:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. ET) will count twice.
