Next year, travelers flying in and out of Jacksonville International Airport will have two new dining options.

Work is set to begin on Angie’s Subs and Vino Volo and Verdi Market following the issuance of two building permits late last week. Both had been previously announced by the airport.

Offering a selection of sandwiches popular at its longtime Jacksonville Beach location, Angie’s Subs will open an 800-square-foot quick-service restaurant in Concourse A in the former Ciao Gourmet spot. That’s across from Southern Grounds, which opened in early 2022.

Burrito Gallery had planned to open in the spot. Instead, it will open as part of the airport’s new Concourse B.

Angie’s Subs is known for its sandwiches, including the Peruvian (ham, Genoa salami, bacon, Italian sausage, provolone, and Peruvian sauce), Dr. Bang’s Scrippy (capicola, pepperoni, provolone, homemade chicken salad, lettuce, tomato, and pickle) and the Jack Del Rio (turkey, roast beef, bacon, mushrooms, honey BBQ Fritos, provolone, and Del Rio sauce).

The restaurant will be operated by airport restaurateur HMSHost.

Airport wine bar Vino Volo, which has operated at JAX since April 2014, will share a new 2,592-square-foot space with Verdi Market near the entrance to Concourse C just beyond the TSA passenger screening area.

The wine bar has been operating out of temporary space in Concourse C during the construction of the new security checkpoint.

In addition to wine, Vino Volo offers craft beers and cocktails along with a menu of sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, brunch items and more.

Verdi Market will offer gourmet snacks, fresh pastries, bottled and specialty beverages, fresh grab-and-go food, freshly roasted coffee from Jacksonville-based Pura Bean Coffee Company.

Vino Volo will be operated by Paradies Lagardère, another airport restaurateur and travel retailer.

Buildout of the two restaurants follows the August opening of Southern Grounds’ second restaurant at JAX. The 49-seat restaurant is located before the TSA security checkpoint, making it available to airport visitors, as well as ticketed passengers and staff.

The Jacksonville restaurant, known for its chef-driven menu focused on fresh and sustainable ingredients, offers an expanded breakfast, lunch and dinner menu as well as a full bar.
