More Indictments Expected to Be Filed Against R. Kelly's Inner Circle
Two of R. Kelly's associates have already been indicted in connection with the disgraced singer's alleged federal sex crimes, and more may be on the way as officials go after Kelly's entire entourage.
Sources familiar with the federal investigation tell The Blast, "more indictments are on the way" concerning Kelly's vast network of enablers who allegedly helped facilitate his alleged crimes.
Two of Kelly's close advisors have already been indicted, including his former manager, Derrel McDavid, and another employee named, Milton Brown.
McDavid was in court in court on Friday and plead not guilty to the four charges against him, including allegedly helping cover up Kelly’s alleged crimes, paying hush money to victims and collecting incriminating tapes of Kelly to prevent their release.
He was released on a $500,000 bond and will be back in court next week.
Brown is also scheduled for a court appearance next week.
As we previously reported, Dept. of Homeland investigators were casting a wide net around Kelly's alleged enablers and entourage members during their extensive investigation.
Sources connected to the victims tell The Blast many of the plane tickets and travel itineraries for the alleged victims were coordinated through Kelly's employees.
Gerald Griggs, attorney for the family of Joycelyn Savage, and other alleged victims, tells us many former employees of Kelly were the ones who handed over video evidence of the singer having sex with underage girls, and heavily contributed to the indictments being filed in Illinois and New York.
We're told the members of his inner circle who refuse to cooperate with investigators will be the ones targeted in additional indictments.
Our sources also believe there's a good chance more former cohorts will turn against Kelly and cut their own deals as they are hauled in by officials, including McDavid and Brown.
Kelly remains in custody in Chicago after being indicted on charges of child sex crimes, including producing child pornography and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government.
After he appears in court, he's expected to fly to New York and face charges brought against him by a Brooklyn federal grand jury.
That separate indictment, filed in the Eastern District of New York, includes charges of racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and the sexual exploitation of a child.
One of R. Kelly's attorneys, Raed Shalabi, previously told us the singer was hopeful about his day in court.
