Season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars” is only a couple of weeks old, but we already got our first surprise elimination. On “Latin Night,” actress Jamie Lynn Spears was sent home despite decent judges scores. Only two of the users who participated in our predictions contest anticipated that result. Not many people agreed with it either. Only 14.37% of fans who responded in our poll thought Spears deserved to be eliminated, which means 85.63% thought she should have remained in the competition. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.

Spears performed a cha cha on “Latin Night” and scored a six from judge Carrie Ann Inaba plus fives from Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli. That gave her a total of 16 out of 30, which was one point higher than she received on “Premiere Night” and placed her ninth out of 13 remaining contestants. With four celebs beneath her on the leaderboard, perhaps her fans felt she was secure and didn’t need their votes. That happens sometimes when a celeb gives a just-okay performance and falls somewhere in the middle: the viewing audience gets complacent and someone is sent home unexpectedly.

A majority of our respondents (52.29%) voted that Mauricio Umansky should have been eliminated instead. The “Real Housewives” star stumbled through his salsa choreography and got the night’s lowest score (straight fours for a total of 12 out of 30), but even though he landed in the bottom two the previous week with better scores, this time he was safe from elimination altogether, perhaps because his supporters were scared into voting extra hard for him this time around.

Next in our poll was controversial NFL football player Adrian Peterson with 17.43% of the vote. He also got a lower judges’ score than Spears and was in the bottom two with her when viewer votes were added in, but he must have had more fan support than Spears did because he ended up surviving in the end. Who do you think should have gone home last week? And who do you think will leave next on “Motown Night“?
