1956

“Vertigo” star Kim Novak attended the Cannes Film Festival in 1956 wearing a halter neck gown featuring a sheer bodice.

1964

In 1964, Sophia Loren appeared at Cannes in a plunging black dress with sheer panels. The actress accessorized with an extravagant suite of sapphire and diamond jewels.

2002

Cameron Diaz sported a sheer one-shoulder Versace gown at Cannes Film Festival in 2002. Featuring a thigh-high slit, her sparkly frock was adorned with a sequined checker pattern. Diamond bangles and open-toe heels completed Diaz’s ensemble.

2013

Cara Delevingne walked the Cannes red carpet in 2013 wearing a black lace gown by Burberry. The supermodel added on diamond jewelry by Chopard, completing her look with a sultry red lip.

Kendall Jenner attended Cannes Film Festival in 2018 wearing a tulle Schiaparelli gown featuring a layered skirt. The 818 Tequila founder accessorized with Gianvito Rossi heels and Chopard jewelry.

2019

At the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, Elle Fanning updated Dior’s “New Look” in a custom ensemble modeled after the French label’s pioneering silhouette. The actress wore a sheer blouse with bow detailing and a flared tulle navy skirt. Fanning’s accessories included a black wide-brim chapeau and criss-cross pumps.

2021

Bella Hadid reached into Jean Paul Gaultier’s archives for the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, selecting a black-and-white gown from the fashion house’s spring 2002 couture line. Originally modeled by Naomi Campbell, the piece features a low-cut bodice, a sheer halter neckline and a floor-length train. The supermodel accessorized with diamond rings and earrings by Chopard.
