One of Aiken's most popular festivals returns this weekend.

Aiken Chamber of Commerce's 47th annual Aiken's Makin' opens 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday along Park Avenue in downtown Aiken with more than 200 vendors registered.

This festival provides plenty of family-fun entertainment, a smörgåsbord of delicious foods, and all kinds of locally made creations to shop for from canvas art and pottery to leather pieces and jewelry. In a news release, Aiken's Makin's show director Dianne Phillips also applauded the scenic views and natural shading available.

“The City of Aiken has done a fantastic job refreshing Aiken’s iconic parkways," Phillips said. "The meandering hardscape paths under the canopy of shade trees is a perfect place to enjoy the day and have a little, or a lot of, retail therapy. From the practical to the whimsical, there is something for everyone at Aiken’s Makin’.”

Admission is free. Those looking for directions to Aiken's Makin' should enter 406 Park Ave. SE. into their GPS. There is sufficient public parking in the area and those needing handicapped parking can go to Fairfield Street near St. Mary Help of Christians Church on Fairfield Street.
