‘Monsters of California’ Trailer: Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge Directs Alien Conspiracy Action Comedy

Blink-182’s track “Aliens Exist” could easily be the tagline for band member Tom DeLonge’s directorial debut “Monsters of California.”

DeLonge co-wrote the script with Ian Miller and Ben Kull, with the plot centering on a high schooler looking to find his missing father who works for a secret government program. The action-comedy stars Jack Samson, Casper Van Dien, Camille Kostek, Richard Kind, and Arianne Zucker.

After discovering research left behind by a missing government agent, Dallas Edwards (Samson) and his misfit high school friends embark on a righteous and dangerous adventure to uncover a paranormal conspiracy in Southern California that brings them face-to-face with some of the government’s most guarded mysteries.

DeLonge also produced the original score, composed by Ilan Rubin and co-produced by Aaron Rubin. Along with DeLonge, Stan Spry and Eric Scott Woods produce “Monsters of California” with DeLonge’s To The Stars production company behind the film in addition to Cartel Pictures.

DeLonge infamously claimed in 2015 that he had an alien encounter when visiting Area 51.

“My whole body felt like it had static electricity, and I open my eyes and the [campfire] is still going, and there’s a conversation going on outside the tent,” DeLonge told Paper magazine (via The Hollywood Reporter) at the time. “It sounded like there were about 20 people there, talking. And instantly my mind goes, ‘OK, they’re at our campsite, they’re not here to hurt us, they’re talking about shit, but I can’t make out what they’re saying. But they’re working on something.’ Then I close my eyes and wake up, and the fire is out, and I have about three hours of lost time.”

He added of his extraterrestrial research, “You have to understand, I’ve been involved in this for a long time. I have sources from the government. I’ve had my phone tapped…I’m talking to people that work underground for six months at a time, that are confiding in me about the national security initiatives.”

DeLonge additionally alleged he endured “mind-control experiments.”

The rocker recently rejoined fellow Blink-182 bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker on an international tour. Barker can be seen on Hulu reality series “The Kardashians” as he is married to Kourtney Kardashian.

“Monsters of California” premieres in theaters and on demand October 6 via Screen Media. Check out the trailer below.
