Monica Lewinsky has inked a first-look production deal with 20th Television ahead of the latest installment of the “American Crime Story” anthology series, “Impeachment,” which the Vanity Fair contributing editor is currently producing.

“Impeachment” chronicles the events that led to Bill Clinton’s (Clive Owen) impeachment, the first of its kind in American history of a sitting president in over a century, with Edie Falco starring as Hillary Clinton, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp and Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky herself, the former White House intern. The series is slated for debut Sept. 7 on FX and is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.”

After her notorious affair with President Bill Clinton during her time as a White House intern, Lewinsky has become an outspoken advocate against cyberbullying and other forms of online harassment, as well as speaking out in support of the #MeToo movement. In 2014, Vanity Fair published her essay, “Shame and Survival,” in which she delved into her experience during the scandal. She released the TED Talk, “The Price of Shame,” in 2015.

“Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of my mistake, and I regret that mistake deeply,” she said in the TED Talk. “In 1998, after having been swept up in an improbable romance, I was then swept up into the eye of a political, legal and media maelstrom like we had never seen before.”

Lewinsky is repped by WME and attorneys Lawrence Shire and Jonathan Ehrlich.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news of Lewinsky’s deal.
