Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 First Details

Brace yourselves: Godzilla is returning to Apple TV+.

Confirmed in a statement by Apple TV+ head of international development Morgan Wandell, a new season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is on its way.

“We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two,” says Wandell, “but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.”

Apple’s plans don’t stop at Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, though. Given the show’s success, as well as the dominance of two recent Godzilla films in cinemas, multiple spinoffs based on the franchise are in production.

The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters keeps showrunners Chris Black and Matt Fraction on board. There’s no word yet on its story, but it will presumably continue on from the first season in which Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell play the same character in two different time periods as they investigate the secretive organization known as Monarch.
