New mom is left ‘fuming’ when in-laws disapprove of baby’s middle name: ‘They are ridiculous!’

A new mother is disappointed with her in-laws’ reaction to her baby’s name.

She asked “Beyond the Bump” on Reddit for advice. She and her husband chose to give their baby a middle name honoring her dad. But when her in-laws came over right after she gave birth, they became preoccupied with the middle name.

They wanted to know why the new parents didn’t pick a name that honored her husband’s side of the family. The mom felt like it took “joy out of the experience.” While she’s trying not to think about it, she can’t help but ruminate.

“I’m just fuming that they are so critical over the decision we made together over our child,” she explained.

Redditors chimed in with words of support for the mom.

“Lol over a middle name? They are ridiculous! You have so many other things to think about with a new baby so just let it go and move on,” a user wrote.

“Your husband needs to stand up for not only you, but your son,” another commented.

“If they have a problem with the name then they have a problem with the baby and don’t need to see him,” a person wrote.
