What A Mom And Her 16-Year-Old Both Must Do To Save Their Relationship

Heather and her daughter, Marissa, are struggling to get along. Heather says the teen drinks, smokes marijuana, sneaks out, and has stolen her car numerous times. The 16-year-old admits to the behaviors but says she’s a normal teen. Heather says she’s tried everything to parent Marissa, but nothing is working. After speaking with Marissa and watching the way mother and daughter interact, child behavioral psychologist Dr. Michele Borba offers her thoughts. “We have got to start to figure out how to listen to one another. This is so volatile that there’s no listening going on at all,” Dr. Borba says. “If you don’t figure something out here, there’s no turning back on this relationship.” See how Heather and Marissa respond in the video above.
