Molly Ringwald is having a moment, and we are here for it! The 55-year-old actress is not only starring in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, but she’s also become a New York Fashion Week staple. On Tuesday, instead of sitting in the front row, she was sashaying down the runway in the Batsheva show.

The designer did something special for their collection by featuring models over the age of 40 to show that “it’s an area of discomfort in fashion,” designer Batsheva Hay told The New York Times. She brought in famous faces like Ringwald and Ione Skye, but she also featured models she found on the streets of New York. “One thing I noticed when stopping women,” she explained of asking women over 40 to model in her show. “They were like, ‘Me?’ There’s this feeling of invisibility or not being seen, so when you are seen it is very surprising.”

Ringwald nailed her assignment in two different looks from Batsheva. The purple dress featured embellished hardware at the neckline and the hemline and also had the perfect accessory for the Queen of the 1980s: shoulder pads. Ringwald’s hair was styled sleek and straight, and the soft makeup focused on her gorgeous eyes with lots of lashes. The second ensemble was so chic! It was an all-black dress with a hooded veil and a lacy hand warmer. It’s the type of outfit that might show up in a scene with Sarah Jessica Parker in And Just Like That.

It only seems fitting to have Ringwald leading the runway with a designer who is helping to redefine style for mature women. She was a teen icon who set the fashion trends at the height of her fame with movies like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. Now, she gets to do it all over again, but in a way that breaks down societal expectations of what women over 40, 50, 60, and beyond are supposed to look like.

And while she never was a fan of that Pretty in Pink prom dress — she told Teen Vogue in 2017 that she “burst into tears” when she saw it — Ringwald’s Breakfast Club outfit is still pretty iconic. It’s fabulous to see how she’s still influencing trends for women who grew up with her characters and set the tone for an entire generation. Now, Ringwald is getting the opportunity to do it all over again.
