Molly Ringwald and 20-Year-Old Daughter Mathilda Sparkle in Sequin at American Ballet Theater Fall Gala

Molly Ringwald and her daughter Mathilda are a sparkling duo!

The Sixteen Candles star, 55, made a glamorous appearance with her 20-year-old daughter Mathilda at the American Ballet Theater Fall Gala in New York City on Tuesday.

Ringwald dazzled in a long-sleeved white sequin sheer gown worn with a light pink slip underneath.

She teamed red pumps with her outfit, which was further accessorized with a light pink clutch, a pair of embellished drop earrings and some red lipstick.

Mathilda, meanwhile, wore a silver sequin mid-length dress with a plunging neckline and nude peep-toe pumps. She sported a grey smokey eye and rosy pink lip while holding a small snake print purse.

It's not just stunning outfits that the mother-daughter duo share, as Ringwald has instilled her sensibilities in her daughter as well. Mathilda told PEOPLE that her mother has taught her "Everything!" But particularly highlighted that she should "Be prepared to wait and be nice, which you should always be anyways."

Ringwald chimed in with her daughter, telling PEOPLE that she also taught Mathilda to "Remember people's names."

Ringwald shares Mathilda and 14-year-old twins Adele and Roman with her husband Panio Gianopoulos.

The actress posted photos of her and Mathilda at the event on Tuesday as they posed with designer Zac Posen — who was also celebrating his 43rd birthday — and his fiancé Harrison Ball, an actor and former principal dancer at New York City Ballet, who both wore matching black tuxedos.

Ringwald later shared a snap of the foursome posing outside together at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, where the gala was held.

In the photo, which was tagged “Afterparty”, Hall held Posen as he leaned back and stuck his leg out. Ringwald crouched down and grabbed Posen’s leg and stuck her tongue out, while Mathilda posed with her hands on her hips to the side.

Ringwald’s outing with Mathilda comes days after she posted a birthday tribute to her eldest daughter as she turned 20 on Sunday.

In her tribute, the actress shared a series of throwback photos of Mathilda as a child eating ice cream, and as a toddler as she held a ‘Happy Birthday’ sign, along with a more recent snap of the 20-year-old smiling.

“❤️❤️❤️Happy birthday Mathilda!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Ringwald wrote in her caption.

Mathilda has carved out a name for herself in recent years in the fashion industry, after making her landing her first campaign for J. Crew in 2017. Following her modeling debut, she joined Andrew Warren's New York fashion week show in 2020.

In 2021, Ringwald shared that Mathilda also has her sights set on acting. "My elder daughter wants to be an actress. She's pretty serious about it," she told Yahoo! News at the time.

Fast forward to this year, and Mathilda is achieving her dream as she stars in the upcoming romantic comedy film The Idea of You alongside Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.

Ringwald told PEOPLE that passing the torch to her daughter is "something that we thought a lot about. She learned how to do it before but it's a hard job and I think she knows what she's in for."
