'Modern Family' Sarah Hyland Confused Everyone With This Birthday Message

Sarah Hyland was feeling herself on her birthday -- we think -- because she dropped a cryptic message that took a few reads before we realized what the heck she was talking about! The "Modern Family" star is celebrating turning 29 years old on Sunday and shared a photo with the caption in question.

"Today is the first day of my last year in my third decade of life... I’m just as confused as you are."

After scanning over a few times, and double-checking Google, it was clear that Hyland was referring to the last year in her 20s before the big 3-0.

Confused?

Well, we weren't the only ones who didn't know what she was talking about, because the TV star's friends and fans commented on her photo, and they were just as confused!

"I’m unwilling to do the math but HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH," one fan wrote, while another admitted, "that one took me a minute."

Justin Mikita, who is married to Hyland's "Modern Family" co-star, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, wrote, "Confused about life? Or this photo? Or both? I choose both."

Actress Michelle Trachtenberg commented, "Happy Birthday you fierce lady you. Sending you an imaginary Mister Softee Ice Cream cake."

Message from Wells

Sarah Hyland received many messages of love from her friends and family on her 29th birthday, but her soon-to-be husband Wells Adams may have been the sweetest. The fiancé to the "Modern Family" star shared a photo of the two kissing near the Eiffel Tower during their recent trip to Paris and captioned it with a gushing birthday message.

Happy birthday to my bride to be. Thank you for being so smart. Thank you for being so funny. Thank you for being so beautiful. Thank you for being so perfect and thank you for always lighting up my Eiffel Tower😏Love,The luckiest guy in the world."

When's the Wedding?

While everyone has been dying to know the details of Sarah and Wells' wedding, the newly engaged couple is enjoying the engagement and not rushing to the alter anytime soon. They are plugging along, however, as the "Modern Family" star recently revealed her bridesmaids, which did not include any of her TV co-stars. There was one famous face among the crowd, as Hyland revealed that Vanessa Hudgens will be part of her "Bride Tribe" when she walks down the aisle.

While walking the red carpet with Wells recently at the People's Choice Awards, Hyland told E! News "We have not set a date or anything. We're trying to really just enjoy being engaged."

Message of Awareness

The day before her birthday, Hyland shared a message about Invisible Illnesses, which is a term used to describe illnesses that are not visible to others, such as chronic pain. For herself, Hyland has been vocal about her own battle with medical ailments, including a kidney transplant she underwent.

Sharing a photo of herself in a sports bra and sweats, Hyland admitted she "hated" it before learning from it:

"To my fellow #invisibleillness warriors. It’s ok to be insecure about your body. Just remember to check in with yourself at least once a day and say thank you. Our bodies have endured unfathomable feats that our minds barely have time to comprehend what has actually happened. With inflammation, excess water gain, and medications, my skin has a hard time bouncing back. I saw this picture and HATED it but quickly readjusted my attitude and decided to celebrate it. Love yourself and be patient. We are all stronger than we think we are."
