'Modern Family' mocks Gwyneth Paltrow and her lifestyle brand, Goop

On Wednesday, Modern Family took a swipe at Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop, her lifestyle brand for out-of-touch rich people. Mira Sorvino played Nicole Rosemary Page, an actress and owner of her own lifestyle brand, Nerp. Haley Dunphy was interviewing for a job with Nerp, but Page did most of the talking. One of Sorvino’s first lines as Page appeared to show what the writers really think of Goop.

“People say that Nerp is nothing more than a con job. A cash-grab vanity project from a kooky actress,” Page says.

Page later compared herself to Walt Disney and what he built, then became even more delusional and showed a total lack of self-awareness.

Page said, “I want to turn Nerp into the next Disney-Facebook-Tesla-Botox. It’s a world changer. It’s a road map to the future.”

The writers of the show hadn’t forgotten when Paltrow received backlash after telling women that sticking a smooth, egg-shaped stone called the Jade Egg (only $66 on Goop!) in their vaginas would improve their sex lives … even though there’s no scientific evidence whatsoever to back up that claim. On the show, it was “Crystal Energy Stickers,” which need to be inserted into the body to improve colon health.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Modern Family for free on Yahoo View.
