"It's crazy to think Aubrey was just a few months older than Beckett when I met her! Look at her now!!! Congrats, Aubrey! You were SO great! Love you! You make a pretend papa proud ❤️," Ferguson wrote in the caption.

Ferguson's post also included a snap of Anderson-Emmons, 16, on stage, the show's playbill and a heartwarming photo of the two posing for the camera.

Apart from thanking Ferguson for coming to her play in the comment section, Anderson-Emmons shared the photo on her own Instagram account. "Guess who came to the school play👀," she wrote.

Ferguson starred in the ABC sitcom when it debuted in 2009, while Anderson-Emmons joined the series during its third season. She was four years old at the time and played Mitchell Pritchett (Ferguson) and Cameron Tucker's (Eric Stonestreet) adopted daughter Lily Tucker-Pritchett until its 11th and final season in 2020.

Since the show's end, Ferguson and Anderson-Emmons have maintained a close relationship. Back in January 2022, the pair took in a performance of Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

The five-time Emmy Award nominee shared a photo of the two on Instagram, captioned "Father daughter date night! This time @jamiemusical @ctgla." In 2021, they captured another reunion Instagram by sharing a photo in which they posed for a selfie.

In 2015, Ferguson told PEOPLE that working with Anderson-Emmons and his younger co-stars made him want to have children with his husband Justin Mikita.

“Working with kids on set and having been with them now for six years and watching them go through their formative years has been really eye-opening. It’s great. It definitely has fed my desire to be a dad," he said at the time.

The couple then welcomed their first child, Beckett Mercer, in 2020 and their second son, Sullivan Louis, in 2022.
