‘Modern Family’s Abraham Higginbotham Inks New Overall Deal With 20th TV
Modern Family executive producer Abraham Higginbotham is staying in business with 20th Century Fox TV, signing a new overall deal with the studio behind the Emmy-winning comedy series.
Under the pact, Higginbotham will continue his work on Modern Family, which he’s been with since the series launch in 2010. Currently serving as executive producer, Higginbotham has written dozens of episodes and won the Humanitas Prize twice, for the episodes entitled “The Kiss” and “Aunt Mommy.” His feature script Everyone Wants Everything also made the 2014 Black List.
Higginbotham’s long list of TV credits includes hits Ugly Betty, on which he was a writer and co-executive producer, Will & Grace as writer and producer, Family Guy and Arrested Development.
“Abraham is one of our heavyweights on Modern Family who has been and continues to be a spectacular asset to that show. But our relationship with him goes back over fifteen years, and this deal is about keeping him here for many more, said Jonnie Davis, TCFTV President of Creative Affairs. “What other comedy writer can you name who has worked on four classics – Modern Family, Will & Grace, Family Guy and Arrested Development? It speaks to his range and enormous talent, and we can’t wait to add a classic show of his own creation to the list.”
“I am genuinely grateful for the opportunities Dana, Gary and the entire team at 20th have given me,” added Higginbotham. “I’ve spent most of my career working for them because they make me feel valued, respected and – from time to time – loved. Or I have Stockholm syndrome.”
Higginbotham is the latest on 20th TV’s roster to sign new overalls with the studio, which may be folded into Disney-ABC if Disney’s acquisition of key 21st Century Fox assets goes through. He joins Sanaa Hamri, Kurt Sutter, Rich Appel, Tim Minear and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, who recently signed new pacts.
