Model Melyssa Ford had 10-inch open wound and fractured skull after crash with 18-wheeler, seeks witnesses to come forward

Friends of Melyssa Ford — a model, TV personality, and radio host — are praying for her after she was in a “horrific” car accident that has left her with serious head injuries.

The former Bravo network Blood, Sweat & Heels personality was heading westbound on the 134 freeway in Glendale, Calif., on her way to model Zena Foster’s bridal shower when an 18-wheeler merged into her lane and clipped her back right tire, Ford told the Hollywood Unlocked website. (She hosts its Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored show on Dash Radio.) Ford’s 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited ended up flipping over three times before landing upside down.

Ford sustained serious head trauma, including a skull fracture, concussion, and bleeding in her brain, along with other severe cuts and bruises. She also had a 10-inch open wound that had to be surgically closed using stitches and staples.

A rep for Ford told the Us Weekly, “God and her seatbelt saved her life.”

With the driver of the 18-wheeler still at large, her friend Claudia Jordan fromReal Housewives of Atlanta posted a photo of the crash — with Ford’s permission. In it, the Jeep is upside down and Ford is next to it being helped by EMTs and others. Jordan called it a “horrific accident that could have easily taken her life” and said: “It’s actually a miracle she survived. She’s injured FOR REAL.”

Jordan also made a plea for assistance from eyewitnesses who may have seen the crash. “As you can imagine Melyssa doesn’t remember much so I’m hoping witnesses will come forward and assist in putting the pieces back together,” she wrote. She ended with a request for prayers.

Another of Ford’s friends, hairstylist-influencer-blogger Maryam Iman, also posted about the accident, ripping people for their “lack of sensitivity” and “ignorant comments.” She wrote, “This is not a joke. She is beyond lucky to be alive. Nothing is f**king funny about someone getting in a car accident. Mel has an 10 inch open wound that had to be surgically closed with staples and stitches and several abrasions on her body. Life is short and so please spread love.”

Ford’s mom spoke to Us Weekly, saying: “It’s so difficult in circumstances like these to live 2,500 miles away from my only daughter. Melyssa is strong, always has been. We are going to get through this together.”
