MLB players forgot how to do their job for one hilarious play
Baseball players are elite athletes, no doubt about it; ninety-nine times out of 100, they will make a routine play.
But it’s the one percent of the time they mess up that we love to watch.
The Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies combined for one mistake-filled play for our viewing pleasure Wednesday night, as the Rockies eventually downed the Reds, 6-3.
Reds speedy centerfielder Billy Hamilton went deep and called off right fielder Scott Schebler to catch a routine fly ball off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez in the top of the 8th inning, but the ball skimmed the edge of his glove and hit the ground.
He and Schebler both went to chase down the ball, apparently without a clear idea of who would pick it up. Hamilton eventually threw it back in to Scooter Gennett, who dropped the ball, then tried – and failed – to backhand throw it to … well, someone?
As this was happening, Gonzalez slipped and fell on his way to second base, but eventually made it safely.
We’ll just shrug this one off, because #baseball.
