MJF isn’t messing with Texas in The Iron Claw.

During a recent appearance on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, MJF spoke about his role as Lance Von Erich in A24’s The Iron Claw. Lance Von Erich was the ring name of William Kevin “Ricky” Vaughn, who was billed as the son of Waldo Von Erich. Lance was not actually biologically related to the Von Erich family.

The current AEW World Champion described what fans could expect from the role when the film comes out.

“So actually, I just booked a role and finished wrapping a movie called The Iron Claw. It’s about the Von Erichs, it’s me and Zac Efron and Colt McCallister and Jeremy Allen White,” MJF said. “So you would call the guy I played a douchebag, his name was Lance Von Erich and he may or may not have held up the promoter for money. Who’s to say? Oh yeah [it’s true]. This is back in the day, this is retro wrestling in Texas, it’s based on a true story.”

Maron then asked if MJF did an accent for the role, but the “Salt Of The Earth” scoffed and said he wouldn’t lower himself to that level.

“No, absolutely not,” MJF stated. “No. I don’t mess around, I don’t want to sound dumb, personally. If you’re from the South, I apologize that you’re dumb, but I don’t like sounding southern.”

All Elite Wrestling is in Laredo, Texas this week for Dynamite and Rampage.
