MJF mentioned the forbidden name.

During the June 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Champion MJF had his promo segment interrupted by Adam Cole. But before Cole could get a word in, MJF gave a long monologue on how he watched Cole win world titles and become a top guy everywhere he went.

MJF then pointed out that Cole landed in AEW after Vince McMahon didn’t see him as a top guy. He stated, “The reason you made the jump to this company is because a certain individual in Titan Towers didn’t think you had top guy potential, and that individual’s name was Vince McMahon… big fan by the way… Vince McMahon was right.” The crowd then chanted “F*** that guy.”

MJF also referenced Cole being Keith Lee’s manager, which was reportedly a pitch that was made for Cole on the main roster if he would’ve stayed in WWE. After that, Cole had had enough and called MJF a coward before issuing a challenge for a match.

An official match has not been booked as of this writing, but the seeds were obviously planted for a future in-ring encounter.

Update: An Eliminator Match between MJF and Adam Cole was confirmed for next week’s show.
