Mixing pop melodies with soulful vocals and hints of R&B, Abbie Thomas performs with SBSO
SOUTH BEND — The South Bend Symphony Orchestra and Abbie Thomas collaborate to present “Hits Through the Decades” at 7 p.m. June 28 at Century Center, 120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
This Juke interactive concert combines the elegance of a symphony quartet with the energy of a singer-songwriter. The audience will actively participate by requesting their favorite hit songs from multiple decades, creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
The South Bend Symphony Strings will bring their versatility and skill to this interactive format, featuring arrangements made popular by the hit Netflix show “Bridgerton,” original songs by Thomas, and songs selected by the audience from a vast catalog of hits.
Thomas mixes pop melodies with soulful vocals and hints of R&B, jazz and a vibe from the songwriters of the 1970s.
She released her debut album, “Who I Am,” in June 2021 and the EP “Dirty Little Things” in May 2022.
Her music video for the song “Fireflies” has received more than 10 nominations for awards, including one for Best Female Solo Artist in 2021 for the California Music and Video Awards and for Best Independent Music Video for the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
She is currently nominated for four Josie Music Awards for independent artists for Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year for “Dirty Little Things” and Artist of the Year. She also earned a Songwriter Achievement award for an unreleased track, “Lucky Penny.” The awards show takes place at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry in October.
