‘Mixed-ish,’ ‘Stumptown’ Get Full-Season Orders From ABC

ABC has given full-season pickups to its new fall series “Mixed-ish” and “Stumptown,” as well as the sophomore drama “The Rookie,” the network announced on Monday.

That marks full-season orders for two of the three new shows that ABC debuted this fall, leaving only the sci-fi thriller “Emergence” awaiting word of its fate from the network. Meanwhile, “The Rookie,” which was renewed for a 13-episode second season back in May, has been picked up for an additional seven episodes.

“This fall, ‘Stumptown’ has delivered a rich, inventive and fun thrill ride each week with a stellar cast that features one of the most fearless female characters at the center; ‘mixed-ish’ has established itself as one of the sharpest, funniest and most original new comedies of the season; and ‘The Rookie’ has continued to bring compelling storytelling and powerful performances to its passionate and loyal fan base,” ABC boss Karey Burke said in a statement.

She continued, “Thanks to the brilliant creative teams behind these series, along with the phenomenal casts and crews, for delivering three incredibly entertaining and distinctive shows. We’re so proud of this great crop of shows that are all off to strong starts this fall, and we can’t wait to bring more fantastic episodes to our schedule this season.”

With seven days of delayed viewing factored in, the debut season of “Mixed-ish” is averaging a 1.80 rating among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. “Stumptown” is averaging a 2.18 rating in the same demographic.

“Mixed-ish,” a prequel spinoff of “Black-ish” that centers on a younger version of Tracee Ellis Ross’ character, stars Tika Sumpter, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Christina Anthony, Arica Himmel, Ethan William Childress, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Gary Cole. It is executive produced by Kenya Barris, Tracee Ellis Ross, Peter Saji, Karin Gist, Randall Winston, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland and E. Brian Dobbins.
