Coming down from her high-energy, headlining performance at this year’s ESSENCE Festival of Culture, 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Missy Elliott celebrated her 52nd birthday with a “Supa Dupa Fly” Sneaker Ball.

Sponsored by Crown Royal Golden Apple, the carefully curated ambiance reflected the Hip-Hop artist’s unique style, favorite color purple, and larger than life-size images from her recent Essence Magazine Cover shoot. Presented by the outlet, Coke-Zero, and Amazon Music, the star-studded affair took place at the Four Seasons New Orleans on Sunday (July 2).

Celebs such as Jermaine Dupri, Brian Michael Cox, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, Letoya Luckett, Danielle Brooks, Charlie Mack, Roland Martin, Deon Cole, Sean Bankhead, Rosci Diaz, Tyler Leplay, Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, Yandy Smith, Mona Scott-Young and Missy Elliott herself filled the star-studded occasion.

Missy’s exclusive guestlist consisted of close friends, industry execs, and fellow celebrity peers. In attendance were Jermaine Dupri, Brian Michael Cox, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, Letoya Luckett, Danielle Brooks, Charlie Mack, Roland Martin, Deon Cole, Sean Bankhead and Rosci Diaz. P Valley stars Tyler Leplay, Brandee Evans and Nicco Annan attended, as well as Love & Hip-Hop stars Yandy Smith and Mona Scott-Young.

The immersive, futuristic experience included a purple LED lit tunnel playing all of the Grammy-winner’s music and iconic videos from her illustrious career. In addition, larger than life images from the Virginia-native‘s recent Essence Magazine Cover shoot also plastered the walls of the event.

Guests enjoyed gourmet hors d’oeuvres with Missy-inspired signature cocktails curated by Crown Royal’s limited-edition Golden Apple aged 23 years. A premium D’usse Cognac bar also offered specialized drinks named, “The Rain,” “Iconology,” and “Work It.” Bryan Michael Cox stepped in as a special guest DJ, as Jermaine Dupri also made an appearance.

The night was complete with Missy shouting out Crown Royal Golden Apple and thanking her friends for celebrating her and her career in this business. The crowd celebrated a Champagne Armand de Brignac “Ace of Spades” toast, and an elaborate three-tiered birthday cake decked out in “all things Missy.” The evening truly celebrated the cultural icon.
