Missy Elliott is sharing footage from the shoot for her ‘Iconology’ EP cover, revealing how she achieved the epic hair style.
The legendary rapper released a series of new songs this week. On the album cover Missy is seen with hair that spells out her name.
One might think it was digitally added in post-production, but the video proves otherwise. Missy actually had a piece in her head that she held up.
The singer wrote, “Big up my photographer @mrdblanks who always come through for me & his work dope he gets me!!! Couldn’t see my grills so I made that face for nothing lol big up my glam squad @kellonderyck who had me wearing & holding this heavy hair piece on my head for a hour, it look fye tho, @themuaalex who keep my face beat like she jumped my face”
She continued, ”and my style @juneambrose@rogeramckenzie for snapping with my clothes keeping me saucy, lastly @beedy_the_black_nail_tech repping #7thWard neworleans have my nails right!!!! #ThrowItBack video and song #ICONOLOGY OUT NOW!!STREAM”
One fan commented, “Missy is out here risking her edges for the culture! We don’t deserve her!!!!!!!"
Missy responded saying, “lol the great thing it was wire in it to help it stand a lil bit”.
The rapper didn’t even announce she was releasing new music until days ago. She posted on social media, “This year has been a tremendous year for me…I am humbled and grateful. THANK YOU for allowing me to smell the roses. You, my fans, and God are the reason I am here and have celebrated every milestone with me! So, I have a SURPRISE for you... let’s continue the celebration at midnight tonight…I’m dropping a collection of new songs! Let’s #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance! Sincerely, Dr. Melissa “Missy” Elliott #Iconology”
