Mississippi Father, Son Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting Of Black FedEx Driver
A father and son accused of shooting at a Black FedEx driver in Mississippi in January have been indicted for attempted murder, conspiracy and shooting into a vehicle.
A Lincoln County grand jury returned the indictments against Gregory Case, 57, and Brandon Case, 35, on Friday, former FedEx driver D’Monterrio Gibson's lawyer, Carlos Moore, told WAPT.
Earlier this year, Brandon Case was charged with shooting a motor vehicle and Gregory Case was charged with conspiracy, according to WJTV.
Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing told the Daily Leader that the men bonded out after each posted $500,000.
Gibson was wearing his FedEx uniform and driving a Hertz Rental Truck with a FedEx magnet logo, according to the Daily Leader, when he delivered a package to the Case home on January 24.
He was trying to leave the driveway when, he said, Gregory Case blocked his vehicle with his pickup truck. Brandon Case allegedly stood in the road and pointed a handgun at Gibson, who said he drove past the younger Case and called his boss.

The Cases then allegedly chased Gibson's truck as Brandon Case fired at Gibson multiple times. The Cases allegedly ended their pursuit once Gibson headed north on the interstate to Jackson, where the local FedEx distribution center is located.
Gibson and his manager filed a complaint with the Brookhaven Police Department, which launched an investigation, the Daily Leader reported. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the FBI reportedly provided assistance.
Moore said Gibson, 24, is pleased with recent developments in the case. Both he and his client had pushed for attempted murder charges.

“My client is pleased that justice is being served in this case. This is a step in the right direction. We’re hoping for a conviction when the trial takes place by jury for a conviction in each,” Moore told the Daily Leader. “This man came within an inch of losing his life. While we are disappointed that it took so long to get to this point, Mr. Gibson is pleased that the indictments have been secured.”
No trial date has been set.
