OSHKOSH - The first of two nights of preliminary competition at the 2023 Miss Wisconsin Competition concluded Wednesday evening with the announcement of preliminary winners in two phases of competition.
Miss South Central Lila Szyryj captured the Talent Award and Miss Madison Paige Eide won the Evening Wear preliminary award.
Both preliminary winners earned scholarships for their accomplishments.
Szyryj, 21, a resident of Madison, played "Revolutionary Étude" by Frederic Chopin on the piano for her talent presentation, taking home a $500 scholarship. She is a graduate of UW-Madison, where she earned a degree in journalism and mass communication.
Eide, 20, is a native of LaCrosse and sophomore at UW-Madison. She is studying neurobiology, health and humanities and leadership. She earned a $250 scholarship for her evening wear presentation.
Thursday night brings the second night of preliminaries, which will conclude the initial days of the competition.
On Saturday, the top 11 candidates will be named and will re-compete in all onstage phases of onstage competition — Talent, Evening Gown, and Lifestyle and Fitness — to determine who will win the title of Miss Wisconsin 2023 and advance to the Miss America Competition.
Tickets are still available for the Miss Wisconsin Final Competition on Saturday as well as the Miss Wisconsin’s Teen Competition Friday at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh. Livestream tickets are also available for both competitions. For more details and to purchase tickets, go to misswisconsin.com.
