Miss Michigan Kathy Zhu Stripped Of Her Crown For Controversial Tweets

Miss Michigan announced she was stripped of her crown.

Kathy Zhu, a University of Michigan student, was stripped of her Miss Michigan crown on Friday for tweets she made last year. According to the Miss World America pageant, the tweets were "offensive, insensitive and inappropriate."

The tweets in question have both been deleted. The first was in reference to the Muslim Student Association on her campus:

"There is a 'try a hijab on' booth at my college campus. So you're telling me that it's now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?"

The second tweet was a response to someone, in which Zhu wrote:

"Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community before blaming others."

Zhu is an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump and tweets controversial opinions often. She's received a flood of support online from fellow conservatives following the announcement.
