Miranda Lambert Embraces Her Power on Fiery Single ‘Wranglers’

Miranda Lambert has dropped an impassioned new single, “Wranglers.” The song, Lambert’s first release under her new deal with Republic Records, features vocals from Audra Mae, and was written by Mae, Evan McKeever, and Ryan Carpenter.
The song was recorded with songwriter/producer Jon Randall at Austin’s Arlyne Recording Studios, and features Jedd Hughes and Ethan Ballinger on electric guitar, Rachel Loy on bass, and Conrad Choucroun on drums. Lambert debuted the track at Stagecoach Festival last weekend.

“‘Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back,” Lambert explained in a statement. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I think the songwriters nailed it.”
She added, “I am so proud to sing this song. It feels like it could have been on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’ in a lot of ways. ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ is a pretty powerful statement, and the way it’s written, you can tell, we’re not kidding.”
The single is Lambert’s flagship release for Republic Records, with which she officially signed in April after departing Sony Music Nashville last year. “Wranglers” hints at her 10th LP, expected out later this year.
“Country music at its core tells the truth about life, but it makes you feel something,” Lambert said. “Sometimes you laugh. Sometimes you throw your fist in the air. Sometimes that fist goes through the wall. All I know is I’ve got a lot more to say, and a lot more music coming soon. So for anyone who’s ever seen themselves in one of my songs, especially the rowdy ones, get ready! We wanted to come with something that really says something from the start. And there’s a whole lot of feelings and rhythms and great playing to come.”
Lambert’s last album, Palomino, dropped in 2022 and was nominated for four Grammys. Last year, she teamed up with Leon Bridges on duet “If You Were Mine.”
The musician is set to perform at the ACM Awards on May 16, which will air live on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. Later this month, Lambert will play three nights at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas before hitting the road this summer on a headlining tour. She is also scheduled to perform at numerous festivals, including Rock the Country, Calgary Stampede, and Under the Big Sky.
