Miranda Lambert Credits Her Husband Brendan McLoughlin As The Inspiration For Her New Love Songs

Finding Love Again

After a highly publicized divorce with Blake Shelton, country singer Miranda Lambert wasn't sure if she would ever love again. However, she eventually remarried, finding love with New York City police officer Brendan McLoughlin.

That newfound happiness is reflected in her new album Wildcard, and Lambert opened up to Sunday Today to explain how love affects her songwriting.

"It definitely feels good to be singing a few love songs,. I mean, I don't want to get too happy, where I can't write a sad song."

A Smile On The Inside

Lambert explained to Willie Geist during the Sunday Sitdown (airing this weekend):

"When you truly find someone that loves you for who you are, and that you genuinely are smiling, it's like a smile from the inside. It's a lot that kinda clicks on, that you really didn't know ... was off."

Life Reflected In Her Music

Lambert explains that McLoughlin fit into her life easily and has the right kind of temperament to make the relationship work.

"He's pretty laid-back and friendly and sweet and just, like, very go-with-the-flow kinda guy, which is great for this life ... And I'm glad to share it with him and that he's open to it."

Wildcard will be available to stream over the weekend, so we'll see if McLoughlin inspired a good set of songs!
