Mipcom: Canal Plus Acquires ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’

CANNES, France — French pay-TV group Canal Plus has acquired “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” the miniseries starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and John Travolta, at Mipcom.

Sold by 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” will premiere on Canal Plus in November. The show bowed on FX in the U.S. in February.

The 10-episode show, which recently scooped up nine Emmy Awards, was produced by Ryan Murphy, and created by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewsk, the duo behind “Ed Wood,” “Larry Flynt” and “Man on the Moon.”

Based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” the critically acclaimed show chronicles the infamous O. J. Simpson murder trial.

At Mipcom, Canal Plus is promoting two high-profile drama series produced under its Creation Originale label: “Midnight Sun” and “Versailles.”
