‘Minecraft’: ‘Wednesday’ Star Emma Myers Digs Into Warner Bros Movie

EXCLUSIVE: Emma Myers has a closed a deal we hear to star in Warner Bros and Legendary’s Minecraft feature film.

Myers stars as Enid Sinclair on Netflix’s most watched series ever, Wednesday, which counts 1.72 billion global hours watched off 252.1M views. She currently stars in the streamer’s Ed Helms comedy, Family Switch from McG.

Myers joins previously cast Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen in the feature take of the The Mojang sandbox video game, which at 300M copies sold and nearly 140M monthly active players, is the highest-selling videogame of all time. An end of month start in New Zealand is being planned.

Writing credits on Minecraft are still being determined, and the pic’s plot is under wraps, but it’s about the videogame, no doubt.

The Minecraft film hails from Vertigo, co-financier Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft and Momoa’s On the Roam. Producers on the project include Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui and the late Jill Messick. EPs are Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza and Jonathan Spaihts.

Myers is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment, and Jeff Bernstein at Jackoway Austen Tyeman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Berstein Trattner & Klein. Her credits also include the TV series Dead of Night and The Baker and the Beauty as well as the movie The Girl in the Basement.

Neither Warner Bros nor Legendary returned request for comment.
