Mindy Kaling Makes a Case for ‘Cheugy’ Fashion in an Off-the-Shoulder Minidress & Glowing Heels

Mindy Kaling is showing her support for this year’s most unexpected style revival: “cheugy” fashion.

The “Office” actress took to Instagram last night to show off her glam attire, modeling an off-the-shoulder minidress from Solace London in a neon pink finish. Her outfit also included a 2000s-chic pink heart purse from Mehry Mu and glowing white Louboutin pumps; similar pairs of the 5-inch heels retail for $695 at MyTheresa.

In her caption, Kaling refers to her own look as “Cheugy in pink.”

The term cheugy resurfaced across the Internet in recent weeks mostly in part due to trends and new videos addressing the word across TikTok. Though it draws similarities in definition to basic or cliché, cheugy is a whole new category that addresses things that are moreover considered by the general population to be outdated, overhyped or even just straight-up extra. Users like Glow Up University who frequent the term on social media referenced former favorites like oversize Gucci belts, Lily Pulitzer and velour tracksuits.

Though Kaling mocked her own outfit in last night’s post, the “Mindy Project” actress has continued to debut stylish ensemble after ensemble on Instagram throughout her time at home. Most recently, the star tapped Chrisitan Louboutin once more for a bold style moment to match her striped Altuzarra dress and red Mansur Gavriel purse.

Kaling herself is a master of mixing top designer looks with surprisingly affordable brands for both red carpet and at-home moments. When it comes to her off-duty looks, you can find the comedian in everything from J.Crew sets and Oscar de La Renta dresses to La DoubleJ swimwear and the Pangaia sweatsuits.
