Milwaukee Brewers players re-created an iconic scene from The Sandlot

The Sandlot is one of the most acclaimed baseball movies ever — beloved not just by movie fans, but by baseball players themselves. This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot, and Milwaukee Brewers players celebrated by re-creating one of the film’s most iconic scenes.

Brewers player Stephen Vogt took on the role of Hamilton Porter, knocking the ball out of the sandlot with a well-placed hit on the “heater” pitch thrown by Kenny DeNunez (played here by the Brewers’ Jeremy Jeffress). When newcomer Scotty Smalls (Brett Phillips here) offers to climb the fence and retrieve the ball, his teammates warn him away. The other side of the fence is home to “The Beast,” a terrifying dog … though in this version, the Beast is played not by an intimidating English Mastiff but rather the Brewers’ mixed-breed mascot, Hank.
