Milton's Jenny Slate is every woman. New mom, new book and a new comedy special

MILTON – With a new standup special set for release Thursday, Feb. 22, Milton native Jenny Slate is already well underway with her next big project: A new essay collection.

Slate, a comedian, actress, producer and writer, recently announced her new essay collection, "Lifeform" will come out this October. It's described as "a wild, soulful, hilarious collection of genre-bending essays depicting the journey into motherhood as you’ve never seen it before."

Slate's new standup special "Seasoned Professional" will be released at 7 p.m. Thursday on Prime Video. The special, which is is described as "romantic, electric and naughty," comes five years after her first stand-up special "Stage Fright."

On television, Slate has appeared in supporting and guest roles in comedies such as “Married,” “Brooklyn Nine Nine,” “Parks and Recreation,” “House of Lies,” “Bored to Death,” “Girls,” “Kroll Show” and “Hello Ladies.” She also appeared on “Saturday Night Live” during the 2009-10 season, drawing laughs for impersonations of Lady Gaga and the Olsen twins.

As for films, she appeared in "Obvious Child," "Gifted, "Venom" and "Everything Everywhere, All At Once," among others. She also co-created, co-produced and starred in the Oscar-nominated film "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On."

Slate splits time between Los Angeles and Dartmouth, where she lives with her husband, writer Ben Shattuck, and daughter Ida. She was the valedictorian of her Milton Academy class in 2000. She returned to her alma mater to deliver the commencement address in 2013.
