BROCKTON — The Grinch is doing more than stealing Christmas this year: he's spreading happiness, hugs and high-fives around Brockton and the surrounding area.

For $125 an hour, you can book Ian Grigorio of Milton to turn up your party in ways you never imagined. The cosplayer also does free bookings for charities and school events if invited.

"Everyone loves the Grinch, from kids to adults. The Grinch elevates the party and gets people excited," Grigorio said.

Partygoers get a taste of their childhood and a glimpse of the movie "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" in real-time. The only person that's missing is Cindy Lou Who.

Grigorio has been the Grinch for over three years now. It started as a way to help his buddy at a party, and it became an instant sensation.

"I do a lot of odd jobs, and dressing up as the Grinch is one of them," Grigorio said.

Grinch just one of many odd jobs for 'Milton's #1 neighbor'

On his Facebook page "Ian Grigorio Milton's #1 Neighbor," he advertises his many skills, and his biggest motto is anything people don't want to do, "I'll do it."

From hanging up Christmas lights to playing with the Easter bunny and building items in your home, Grigorio does it.

"I service the entire area of Brockton, Stoughton, Randolph all of the South Shore, and I've gone as far as Rhode Island. I will travel anywhere," Grigorio said.

The best part about playing Grinch

The best part about playing the Grinch is the expressions on the kids' faces. They don't know whether to be happy, scared, or excited.

To Grigorio, dressing up as the Grinch nurtures his inner childhood wounds. Seeing the kids become excited and pretending to be someone else for a few hours is freeing.

"No one knows who you are under the mask, so you can be as silly and goofy as you want without judgment," Grigorio said.

Grinch's day job

When Grigorio isn't cosplaying the Grinch he works for Boston Public Schools as a paraeducator for autistic kids and also runs an odd job business online.

Constantly moving and working on a project is how Grigorio passes his time, but the Grinch has to be one of his favorite activities.

Making people smile and laugh is one of the joys in his life.
