"I sound super Hollywood."

Dave Bautista is revealing how he ended up becoming the dog dad of an adorable pit bull puppy named Talulah — and it's all thanks to Millie Bobby Brown and his Guardians of the Galaxy costar Chris Pratt

The Dune: Part Two actor, who now owns four pit bulls, recently explained that he received a text from Pratt when he was shooting a film with Brown about a puppy she was trying to place in a loving home. While Bautista didn’t specify the project, Pratt and Brown are set to star opposite one another in the upcoming Russo Brothers film, The Electric State

"[Pratt] said, 'I know that you're a fan of this breed, and my costar is trying to adopt her out,'" Bautista recalled on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show. "And I said, 'Oh, sorry, man. You know, I've already got three.' And I just [kept] looking at [the dog's] picture and I was just… I just fell in love with her."

When Bautista told Pratt that he'd take the dog, he said the Parks and Recreation actor offered to connect him with Brown to iron out the details. And yes, he's well aware that it's not the usual puppy adoption story.

"It sounds weird to me when I say, 'Chris Pratt hit me up and I got my dog, you know, from Millie Bobby Brown,'" Bautista said. “I sound super Hollywood.”

He continued, "So I hit Millie up and I said, 'Look, I'm on a film, but I'll be home next week, and I'll get on a plane as soon as I can.' She said, 'Don't worry about it. I'll have someone drop her of.' So literally the day I got home — I was overseas in Rome — I got home and I was there and I waited and these two guys showed up in the middle of the night around midnight."

To make strange things even stranger, Bautista said the puppy deliverers were "all sweaty" from the long drive to his home. "I'm like, 'Man, you guys want to rest? You want to stay over? You want something to eat?' They're like, 'No, we got more drop-offs,'" he recalled. "They just drove her down from Atlanta and dropped her off, and I just took her and she’s been with me since."

"Are you sure it was Millie Bobby Brown you talked to?" host Jimmy Fallon jokingly asked. "Have you ever met her?"

When Bautista admitted that he hadn’t met the Stranger Things star yet, Fallon joked, "I think you could have gotten catfished by someone adopting a dog!"

Still, Bautista made sure to keep one adorable connection between Brown and the pup. "Millie named her Talulah, and I just thought it was so special that Millie named her, so we kept her name," he said. "My ex-wife adopted her littermate, her little sister, so we have Talulah and Delilah."

Brown herself owns an eclectic mix of pets —  including eight dogs, four cats, three goats, one donkey, one pony, one sheep, and one rabbit — and frequently works with local shelters to help get animals in need adopted.

Watch Bautista gush over Talulah — and talk about his latest movie, Dune: Part Two — in the clip above.
